Panelists
James Leigh
James is a longtime Web standards proponent. He uses his wide-ranging experience in Web development to move semantic Web technologies from the research lab to practical solutions, improving business productivity and efficiency. He has been an active architect and leader on some of the most well known and used semantic web Open Source Software projects including RDF4J/OpenRDF Sesame library, an RDF library for parsing, indexing, and querying RDF using SPARQL; OpenRDF AliBaba and Elmo RDF-object mapper for aspect/subject oriented composition of object rules; PURL server, a distributed resource identifier management system; and Callimachus, a Linked Data management system.
Mark van Berkel
Mark is the founder and creator of Schema App. A Semantic technology platform that structures data into schema markup to be consumed by search engines. He works day in and day out figuring out how to leverage the flexibility of SemTech to deliver value to marketers. He has a Masters in Engineering from the University of Toronto, where he studied Semantic Technology with Michael Gruninger.
Bart Gajderowicz
Bart is a fourth year PhD candidate in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Dept. at the University of Toronto, under the supervision of Professors Mark S. Fox and Michael Grüninger. He is a member of the Centre for Social Services Engineering working on the Social Service Simulator project. He holds a MSc and BSc degrees in Computer Science from Ryerson University where he co-founded the Ubiquitous and Pervasive Computing Laboratory. Bart’s current work applies artificial intelligence (AI) techniques towards understanding human behaviour, with application in evaluating social service policies. His research interests focus on Human-AI interaction and collaboration. Prior to joining the CSSE, Bart spent 12 years as a Software Engineer.
